Chinese knots also known as an unique folk handicraft woven arts, is full of special oriental charm and ever-changing variations. The exquisitely symmetrical knots that come in so many forms are as profound as the great cultural heritage of China. Its exquisite patterns represent Chinese ancient civilization, human growing and multiplying, as well as the mysterious maths play. With complicated and prolonged curves, knots can be restored into the simplest two-dimensional lines.
With beautiful patterns and colors, names of Chinese knots originate from their lifelike shapes such as coiling knot, caisson knot and double-coin knot, etc. They reflect Chinese ancient cultural beliefs, profound religious connotations, and are often used to express good wishes like truth, kindness and beauty.

Handicraft
With the fast development of modern industry, traditional handicraft is gradually out of sight. From a fresh new perspective, this program will present the status quo of traditional Chinese handicraft and handicraftsmen. It will also exhibit primitive handmade sugar making, wine making, pottery making, paper making, bamboo weaving, iron forging, carpet felting, handmade weigh beam making and saddle making. Different from people’s impression on handicraft of artwork only, this program has chosen material about more than 30 kinds of handicraft closely related with people’s daily life but is fast disappearing. From the perspective of diversity of culture, the program displays people’s livelihood in different time and space, and reveals the necessity and the urgency for remaining those handicraft. It enables the rare and precious handicraft to be shown on TV.

Originated from Luan County, Hebei province, Luanzhou's shadowgraph is distinctive. It has all the art of paper-cut, painting, portrait and sound. It represents the artless beauty and wisdom of art. It's a treasure of China's culture and art. Luanzhou's shadowgraph pushes China's shadowgraph art forward to its summit for the first time in history due to Huang Suzhi 400 years ago, Qin Zhen'an living overseas and numerous artisans who devote themselves to the development of shadowgraph and the world's human culture.
This 7 installments of special documentary is to record the trace of this old folk art so that the later generation may enjoy this audio&visual record.
